Negroni Casoni: a drink that stands out for its very pleasant taste
The Negroni Casoni is a 'ready to drink' product created following the original recipe: 1/3 red vermouth, 1/3 bitter, 1/3 gin. Ideal for drinking in company poured into the "tumbler" — the ideal type of glass — with ice cubes and a slice of orange.
The invention of the Negroni dates back to 1919 when a Count, Camillo Negroni — lover of horses, beautiful women, aristocratic salons and very fine bars — asked his trusted bartender at the Caffè Casoni in Florence to give his usual drink a tiny tweak. What he did was to ask him to blend his usual mix of bitter and red vermouth with some good gin that he had come to adore as a result of countless trips to London. From that moment on, more and more people started asking the count's bartender friend a drink 'just the way the Count has it' or, in other words, a drink which had now come to be thought of by everyone as the Negroni.
